Retrospective
This year's totals are 130 days and 50,557 words over 105 fics (including a couple I didn't publish) compared to 148 days of writing, and 61,323 words over 132 fics last year. That's a drop but it's okay it's still a stupendous amount of writing by my standards and I didn't do a "write every day of the month" event like I did for WeasleyJumpers last year which is accounts for the difference.
Most of what I wrote was drabbles for Drabble comms, which of course range from 'I actually really like this idea' to 'this is the first 100 words to come to mind for this prompt'
I finished off my 8th year oral series (after 10 years! Though only a serious series since the previous year (meaning 2023)) and did one of only loosely connection Nextgen PWPs. I flirted a series of nextgen with O.C.s but only done 2 before it fizzled.
In terms of hits, "The Magic Number" (aforementioned oral series finale with Harry/Parvati/Lavender), "A Birthday Train Ride" (Lily Luna is gangbanged) and "Fling" (Harry/Daphne vacation fling PWP) are top of the list.
In terms of Kudos "Fling" is number one, "Getting Over, Getting under" (Hermione/Draco/Blaise/Theo which I wrote drunk for FWF), "Sharing Space" (Harry/Daphne domestic fluff drabble). Just because the pattern interests me the next two are Fool's Heart and Breakfast, both fluffy, non-smutty Harry/Pansy pieces.
I've actually noticed an up tick in comments this year. Not a lot but still. Breakfast has 5 comment threads, Sharing Space has 4 and Consider Yourself… (Ron/Susan Christmas fluff) and Interlude (Harry/Luna fluff) both have 3.
Certain trends continue unabated: Gryffindor/Slytherin pairings and smut rule the roost. Though I'm surprised by the strong showing of non-smut works in certain areas. Though it's possible (I've not tabulated ratings) I've simply been writing much more lower rated stuff, it feels that way.
This is really a ridiculous number of fics, I'm scrolling through to find something to talk about and I have forgotten most of them. Oh, I did "Perfect Despair" about Sirius/Bellatrix that was a new pairing in an era I don't generally do much in.
I also noticed I wrote more Harry/Luna this year! According to dreamwith's tag 4/9 fics for them I wrote in 2024, the one before that was in 2022 and then nothing as far back as 2016. Harry/Luna is my otp but they are special enough to me I don't write them, lol, because I don't want to get them wrong or cheapen them which I was obviously less worried about last year! Lol.
That's all my thoughts for now. No big plans for 2025, doing GYWO again so it'll probably continue in the same vein for the foresable. I want write lots of nice fluffy het smut maybe a bit longer in the flashfic rather than the drabble range but the muse will not cooperate.

Retrospective
This year's totals are 130 days and 50,557 words over 105 fics (including a couple I didn't publish) compared to 148 days of writing, and 61,323 words over 132 fics last year. That's a drop but it's okay it's still a stupendous amount of writing by my standards and I didn't do a "write every day of the month" event like I did for WeasleyJumpers last year which is accounts for the difference.
Most of what I wrote was drabbles for Drabble comms, which of course range from 'I actually really like this idea' to 'this is the first 100 words to come to mind for this prompt'
I finished off my 8th year oral series (after 10 years! Though only a serious series since the previous year (meaning 2023)) and did one of only loosely connection Nextgen PWPs. I flirted a series of nextgen with O.C.s but only done 2 before it fizzled.
In terms of hits, "The Magic Number" (aforementioned oral series finale with Harry/Parvati/Lavender), "A Birthday Train Ride" (Lily Luna is gangbanged) and "Fling" (Harry/Daphne vacation fling PWP) are top of the list.
In terms of Kudos "Fling" is number one, "Getting Over, Getting under" (Hermione/Draco/Blaise/Theo which I wrote drunk for FWF), "Sharing Space" (Harry/Daphne domestic fluff drabble). Just because the pattern interests me the next two are Fool's Heart and Breakfast, both fluffy, non-smutty Harry/Pansy pieces.
I've actually noticed an up tick in comments this year. Not a lot but still. Breakfast has 5 comment threads, Sharing Space has 4 and Consider Yourself… (Ron/Susan Christmas fluff) and Interlude (Harry/Luna fluff) both have 3.
Certain trends continue unabated: Gryffindor/Slytherin pairings and smut rule the roost. Though I'm surprised by the strong showing of non-smut works in certain areas. Though it's possible (I've not tabulated ratings) I've simply been writing much more lower rated stuff, it feels that way.
This is really a ridiculous number of fics, I'm scrolling through to find something to talk about and I have forgotten most of them. Oh, I did "Perfect Despair" about Sirius/Bellatrix that was a new pairing in an era I don't generally do much in.
I also noticed I wrote more Harry/Luna this year! According to dreamwith's tag 4/9 fics for them I wrote in 2024, the one before that was in 2022 and then nothing as far back as 2016. Harry/Luna is my otp but they are special enough to me I don't write them, lol, because I don't want to get them wrong or cheapen them which I was obviously less worried about last year! Lol.
That's all my thoughts for now. No big plans for 2025, doing GYWO again so it'll probably continue in the same vein for the foresable. I want write lots of nice fluffy het smut maybe a bit longer in the flashfic rather than the drabble range but the muse will not cooperate.
