Scorpius Malfoy didn't understand why his father had considered sending him to Durmstrang until his name was called for the Hogwarts' Sorting Hat. The silence in the hall had broken and there was muttering and pointing and craning of necks as he walked to his house table, wishing he was anywhere else.
A few names later though and a boy got a much louder reception and hurried out of the limelight to sit next to Scorpius.
"Fun, isn't it?" Scorpius whispered.
"I'll say," said the boy, emerald eyes shining. He extended hand. "I'm Al."
Scorpius never thought of Durmstrang again.
