A/n: First of two ideas I had for written for neville100's Prompt#545: "Denial". This one's a bit grim.

It was the end of a pleasant evening with Charlie and Neville Longbottom was feeling completely relaxed. Charlie was very close by.

Then Charlie leant into kiss him and Neville jerked and leapt aside as if he'd taken an electric shock.

"Oh!" Charlie said, stepping back quickly. "Sorry, misread that."

"No ,it's not…" Neville started and trailled off. "It's not you. I can't be gay."

"It's okay," Charlie said, gently.

"It's not." Neville said shakily. "I can't be. What would Gran say? Good pureblood boys are supposed to make a next generation."

Neville fled and Charlie watched him go sadly.
