harry100's Prompt #497: "Wings". Threw in some Harry/Ginny parenting headcanons to bulk it out.

It was Ginny's month leaving work early to take care of the kids, while Harry worked full-time.
When he got home, there was an argument in ful flow, the kids were all excitedly jabbering and Ginny was using her overly-calm "Mother's" voice.
"Interesting day?" He said.
"I fixed Remus!" Lily said proudly. "I saw a flying dog and I though Remus could do that and then he colud!"
"That was a costume, Lily," Ginny said to no avail.
Sighing, Harry sat down and drank his tea to the sound of the beating wings of the family dog circling the ceiling.
"It was a muggle dog in a costume," Ginny said grumpily. "Stupid dragon costume or something. Lily thinks it's the cutest thing in the world and then… puff, Remus is soaring around."
"It's awful," Harry said. "Lily's seen broomsticks, you don't need wings to fly."
"Harry," Ginny said. "you're finding this funny?"
"Laugh or cry, dear."
"You didn't have to wrangle the dog before anyone saw it," Ginny said. "We've got to change it back."
"The kids seem to really like him this way,"
"You're too soft on them"
"You can change it back as easily as me," Harry said.
"Of course, I could change it back," Ginny said fiercely. "But look how they love him flying about. I couldn't just do it."
"See, now how's being soft?" Harry said, annoyed. "Leave it me to be the bad guy."
"Please, you're never the bad guy." Ginny snapped.
They both glared at each. Then Harry broke eye contact and they both took a deep breath.
"Sorry," they muttered simultaneously.
"Look neither of us want to spoil it," Ginny said. "but we have to."
"We'll just have to explain it to them," Harry said. "Together."
Ginny nodded.
"But not until tomorrow okay?"

Date: 2024-08-16 07:34 pm (UTC)I can't see Harry or Ginny being happy disciplining their kids, Harry because of the Dursleys and Ginny not wanting to turn into her mum.
Thanks for reading!
