The trouble with applying to be a teacher Neville Longbottom thought, tugging at the collar of his dress robes, was the interviewer already knew who you were.
Headmistress Minerva McGonagell gazed at him across her desk and Neville felt eleven years old again.
"There's only one question that means anything," McGonagall said. "Why do you want to be a teacher?"
"Perhaps," Neville said meeting her eyes. "I want to teach children to be proud of who they are, and not what others think they ought to be."
McGonagall's professional poise flickered for a moment.
"Quite so, Professor Longbottom," she said.
