hp_nextgen100's Prompt #302: "Let's Dance". No Hogwarts doesn't have prom in canon. It's next gen even the wizarding world has become horribly americanised by then. ;)

Hogwarts had never had a school dance when his parents had been here James Sirius Potter knew and they disapproved of the idea on principle. Surveying the crowd of uncomfortable seventh years in seldom worn dress robes James had to admit that they had a point.
James was hanging awkwardly around the drinks table when a voice said:
"Let's dance!"
James looked up and found himself face to face with his cousin Dominique Weasley, wearing a shiny turquoise dress, pale green eye-shadow and red lipstick.
Given that she didn't usually wear more than jeans and a hoodie, James' jaw dropped.
"James?" Dom said, after a moment. "Dancing?"
James jerked into motion, trying to ignore the swooping sensation in his stomach and the sudden hardness in his pants.
"A-ah, yeah, sure. Yes, I mean. I'd love to." James said, going red. Real smooth, Jamie.
The dance music was pretty high tempo at the moment and James felt safe, bouncing there a bit a part from Dom, waving his arms vaguely in time with the music. This was very doable.
The words "very doable" would usually induce sniggering in James and seemed pretty apt as he saw Dom's slender form sway about.
They'd been dancing for a few minutes when disaster struck. The fast-paced music went away and a slow piece started up in its place.
"Umm…" James said. "Do you want a Drink… maybe?"
Dominique fixed her gaze on his and her jaw set and she stepped close to him. Her body language brooking no argument.
Then they were slow dancing, she was in his arms pressed so close that he could feel everything and so could she.
"Is this okay?" James said.
She looked up into his eyes.
"This is perfect." She said, suddenly the only thing in James' universe.
