Overview
I had a good year this year! I started putting drabbles on A03 (as advise in the 2021 version of this post) and if nothing else that leads making it easy to look at stats. I wrote 21.6K words over 42 fics this year, compared to over 20.8 words over 25 fics last year. So many more, shorter fics this time.

Still I feel pretty good about it compared to this time last year.


Variety
Now, part of this was the explicit Rare pair challenge in March and April which was to do as many different pairings as possible but that seems to have been the theme this year with me doing new pairings and different pairings and only a few more than once. I did Harry/Daphne twice, Neville/Ginny twice (sort of) and my bikes James Sirius/Dominique a few times. I also did Harry with Parvati and Padma once each separately and once as a threesome.


Highlights
Of course in term of response Slash always does well. Harry/Blaise and Harry/Bill are both near to top in Kudos count this year despite the Harry/Bill one being posted in last November.

The fics in between are some Harry/Pansy pegging, Kingsley/Hermione workplace sex and Ginny/Hermione smut. I don’t know what to make of that. People do like their filth.

Just below that is a fic I think had a surprisingly good response and one I quite like which is a Harry/Lavender fic that I think was some nice smut with some heart and character behind which is a personal highlight I think.


Disappointments
Down at the bottom of the list as far as response and kudos went are many of the Neville and Next Drabbles and ficlets I wrote as well as a Dean/Luna ficlet these were also often (but not always) not smutty which is probably a real block to readership.

Future
As I know I’ve mentioned too often, I’m doing GetYourWords out in 2023 aiming for 10 days a month/120 days a month. This is a significant uptick in output though 1 day does not equal one output. I may hope do longer things over a few days.

Still a similar pattern of lots of drabbles and double drabbles seems likely.

I guarantee lots of shamless smut featuring Harry and maybe James and Al with various ladies, Harry getting and giving lots of oral sex and a general disregard for canon.

I suspect we may see more of my slow descent in writing slash for views, possibly by way of a bi-Harry

And I hope to write a bit more femdom, pegging and some threesomes along the way.

You're right about the Weasleycest. Also some non-con and/or underage. The only one that I'd truly call a "big pairing" was Snape/Hermione. And the only Top Ten thing with Harry at all was a Harry/Daphne I wrote for you. Of course if you sort by Kudos it is a little different--I clearly have a good number of subscribers who come around for certain pairings.

I do think it's important to write what we want even if it doesn't get loads of hits! I just try to get a nice mix, you know? I did something that alluded to vampires (which I am not a huge creature fic fan) and people loved it which annoyed me. ROFL Never happy. :P (In fact it's #2 in Kudos which the top one really shouldn't count as it's a chaptered thing that carries over from year to year!)

I hadn't though to check views and Kudos separately. I'll have to sort by views sometime. And try not to worry about the view/kudos ratio!

In my personal experience, the really filthy stuff gets hits not kudos while the big pairings or *my* pairings get kudos. So, for example, when I re-sort from hits to kudos, suddenly half of them are Snarry instead. But yeah, I don't actually worry about it much. Only as you were saying, that it's a bit depressing when you've done something unique and no one seems to notice.
