Picard Episode 7

so episode 7...

• fuck them for what they did to Hugh. That was uncalled for and so was the 24th century ninja fight.
• Will and Deanna rock. I figured out who Kestra was like a shot before Deanna appeared.
• Everyone does seem much coarser than in TNG even the returning characters.
• The flashback gives us more generic doom prophecies about Synths. I feel like at this point of the series we should know more
• I feel like Seven is going to be the new borg queen by the end of the series.

I'm certainly still mourning over Hugh, though I'm in the camp of WHERE DID HIS BODY GO. Could Seven find a way to bring him back? I still need to write up my own review for extra feels. It certainly helped to have the scenes with Will, Deanna and Kestra. I certainly shed a few tears for just how damn wonderful it was to have them all there together. One review I read said Kestra reminded them of a kid from a 80s movie and I agree with this, in a good way.

Oh! I didn't notice that his body had vanished! Maybe there is some hope after all.

Yes, the scenes with the old cast were a great counter-balance to the dysfunction to the new lot.

To be fair, the scene just cut away so we don't know what's going to happen... but!

I would have liked the information from Oh to be more detailed too. After this episode, Picard & co are basically flying blind into this place with the two moons because it's the only lead they have, and we as the audience have no idea what awaits there either. Of course, this is in character for Picard -- he'd never give up on the mystery now -- but it does seem funny that we know so little about such an important aspect of the story.

Yeah it doesn't feel out of character or anything in universe, but it makes we wonder just how much will be wrapped up this series or left hanging for the now-ordered second series.
