The feeling i had going into the episode was apprehensive? Nervous? I really wasn't sure about it but the first episode was powerful. Major spoilery stuff under the cut. If DW had a spoiler function i'd use that too.
- Of course the opening scene starts with poker. The way "All Good Things" ended.
- Gosh Brent Spiner and Stewart look old. Stewart even sounds old when he's being vulnerable.
- I stopped noticing this quickly though
- The continuity cavalcade of the archives was amazing.
- The plot hooks was convincing.
- As was Picard's reason for starfleet and his acting in the interview scene. Amazing
- We see B4 and talk about Data's daughter. But no name drop for Lore or Lal. (you know data's actual daughter)
- They did name drop Bruce Maddox from Measure Of A Man though.
- Seriously it feel genuinely like a return to the prime continuity for the first time since Voyager.
- Looking forward to more. It's all good stuff really.

Date: 2020-01-30 02:07 pm (UTC)I wonder if they'll mention Lore and/or Lal later on. Namedropping too many characters could be confusing to new or casual viewers — though I'm not sure if they consider accessibility to non-fans a priority or not. When they made a point of talking about Maddox and his disappearance, rather than just a quick mention, it made me think he might actually appear on the series. The actor who played him is still with us, but I don't know if there's been any word on whether he's involved.
A new episode tonight! Happy Captain Picard Day. I'll put the banner up. ;)

Date: 2020-01-30 09:21 pm (UTC)Patrick Stewart signing on and be eager to return was a positive sign.
Yeah, maybe. There was a lot of continuity in the episode already. The Maddox reference really does feel like he could turn up later as well.
