Best Ron Ever.
Nov. 15th, 2016 10:39 pmI am biased because this was my prompt but Pawn To C3 is a brilliant Gen fic.
It follows Ron as an uncle to Harrry's kids when they're on holiday, and an incredibly bright Lily who needs distraction and mental occupation. So Ron plays chess with her.
Lily's a great character here. Smart and precocious but an way that amusing and not annoying certainly doesn't out stay her welcome.
But it's Ron's PoV and he's a star. He's a really believable (to me) grown up version of the character. He's mature, wise, kind enough to take responsibility for the Potter kids and practical enough to do it well. The relationship between him and Hermione and Harry and Ginny is present in background and is excellent.
The fic is by turns, interesting, funny and poignant and I can't recommend it enough.
