so... Terrarium, an ortegas episode at last! spoilers under the cut (and I mean it!)
I may have been biased because I saw a review on tumblr from a professional reviewer who'd seen the whole series in advance saying it was the only worthwhile episode of the season but ruined by its end
And I think it's true it absolutely did not need The Metron to popup to hamfistedly explain the message and link it to Arena. Ironically the lack of continuity with Arena has been a stick point but a god-alien popping up and saying 'We'll reset your relationship with the gorn and try again' is Disco S2 level bad as a continuity fix
But apart from that it's a very strong episode. It didn't really need the Enterprise scenes ( though Uhura having and using a 'fudge the numbers' slider is weird) but it kind of had to have them.
Ortegas rocks here. She had impressive tech skills with the water reclaimer and quickie translator and impressive planning/improvising/leading skills.
But ultimately we find out she has starfleet/federation ideals to the core and can bond with a Gorn despite her ptsd and them being humanoid but very non human in short order
Strongest episode of the season for me, probably one of the strongest of the show.
