All my stuff is done and dusted for the moment. No obligations, woo. To make up for my dreary posts of late lets do something fun!

Slag of other people's ships! That's always good for a laugh. But really, I've reached the last chapter of Half Blood Prince on audio book and it struck me again how I have absolutely no feeling for Remus/Tonks. It's just dumb y'all! It's like even worse than Harry/Ginny.

I mean I do admire the way Harry is absolutely clueless and the book has him noticing what's going on but attributing it to Molly wanting Bill/Tonks when really she's trying to get Remus and Tonks together.

But the pay off at the end... this ship does neither of the main character's any good. Tonks turns into this lovesick unfun idiot and just whiny at the end (wha! why on't you love me! wha!) and I never get the impression Remus actually cares for Tonks. I mean its more like that everyone in the room just nagged him into putting up with her at the end. Especially given his attitude at the start of the next books.

So how many people on my f-list have i just mortally offended?

I think we've discussed Harry/Ginny before, now perhaps. :P As to the ship in general. Well I guess it's okay. I don't know it seems to me that him getting with Ginny is like the most orthodox pairing you could go with; he falls for practically the first girl in the wizarding world he meets? Who he saved in the second book and has had a crush on him forever until he finally wises up? it's not bad to me per se but it seems rather generic.

I've definitely said this before. If there was just one small thing I could change about the canon to make immediately better to me, it would be to take out that line Ginny has about 'never giving up on [harry]'. Let her outgrow the crush, grow up a bit and then fall for Harry when she knows him. That'd be okay.

I guess I'm asking because sometimes there are pairings I'm totally not into but if an author is really good at what they do I can look past it and still enjoy the story. Like Harry/Draco. It is so not my ship but there are some awesome H/D fics out there that I really love.

Good point about the one canon change. I love H/G stories where they have some kind of rocky relationship initially or they don't get back together for a long time after DH.

I have yet to find a Remus/Tonks fic that lets me look past the pairing and really get into the story, but I also haven't been trying. To each his own I suppose.

How I totally feel that way about Harry/Ginny. I'm sure there's good fic out there with them and that it is possible to do a good job with them. After all you've written for the pairing ;)

But like you with R/T its not something I've ever felt the need to search out for myself.
