Star Trek Discovery S5E5
Apr. 27th, 2024 02:43 pmSpoilers, as ever, under the cut.
Despite the title I was taken off guard by the principle setting of the episode the ISS Enterprise NCC-1701, taking advantage of the Strange New World sets to bring it back. Apparently while the Terran Empire collapses some of Spock's followers used it to vacant to the prime universe and one set Terrans was in the progenitor tech hiding scientist team along with the romulan and trill people.
The other big revelation this episode is that L'ak is a Breen and that Breens have two forms: One were they need the suit and one where they don't. The suit-needing form being apparently the superior.
L'ak is the black sheep of Breen royalty, met Moll when she was courier and fell in love, then has a bloodbounty on his head when he attacked his uncle to protect her, which is want they want the tech to undo.
The revelations were interesting but the episode itself seemed pretty by the numbers but entertaining. Rayner continues to defrost and see things Michaels way, calling on the bridge crew to brainstorm solutions for their current predicament.
I kind of would like Raynor's style to win over Michael's on occasion though.
Still decent enough middle of the season episode.
