Another one I have mixed feelings about. Spoilers under the cut.
The fleet museum is pure fanservice but it's just such blatant fanservice that I have mixed feelings on. Like the ships that get pointed out are almost all ones from the series and films. Like yes obviously it's nice to see them but in-universe they all ended up the same museum? It feels contrived. (That said I like that the one new ship we see the USS New Jersey is an near original TOS style Connie, probably the model from the remastered TOS not a SNW redo. (Though I do like the disco/Snw redo))
What was nice was perennially underused Seven getting a speech in appreciation of the Voyager and her crew. Which was really nice, makes sense, and makes me wish there are some Voyager cast cameos coming up so she can re-uinite with it.
The flipside is her not really feeling like she belongs anywhere else and apparently the break up with Raffi is real. Boo. it doesn't seem to serve much purpose.
I still can't bring myself to care much about Jack and Picard and obviously the cause of his hallucinations is not going to be real Irumodic syndrome. So that's still left in the air.
We finally got Geordi but his stuff with Sidney seems very run of the mill. I like that Sidney's sister seemed to be very much on her side though.
Data's return. Even with them copping to having killed him twice already. *sigh* I only hope they do more Geordi/Data stuff since he's around than Picard/Data stuff because that's been done to death.
Riker's captured. Deanna's a damsel in distress. Ugh. I hope she gets to do a lot more in the last episodes. The problem with the TNG reunion (like the movies) is in a 10 episode series there's just not enough for them all to do.

Date: 2023-03-25 08:13 pm (UTC)I don't know if it's just me showing my age but the whole "I would have thrown caution to the wind when I was younger, but now that I have kids it's different" storyline was pretty poignant for me. I'm glad we did get them making up after all.
Ahhh, please let there me Geordi/Data! I felt like it's certainly Levar Burton's headcanon based on the way he said Data's name. :P The send-off for Data was so emotional that I hope we don't go through that whole wringer again. Kudos to Spiner for having Data whip through all those selves, though. That was pretty great.
I also groaned to see Deanna as damsel in distress and it seemed like she had the same opinion! Hopefully she, Beverly, Seven, Raffi and others get to turn the tables.

Date: 2023-03-25 11:25 pm (UTC)Glad you liked the Geordi and Sidney stuff. I didn't think it was bad but it's not a unique story point either and it just doesn't have room to be given attention to stand out. It is nice they make up though.
haha. Now when I said Geordi/Data, I didn't mean in the ship-ship sense more the 'best friends sense' 'data & geordi la forge' in ao3 tag speak. I'd be really impressed with their bravery if they canonised Data/Geordi slash.
Yes, I did think it was an impressive bit of acting when he flipped to Lore for a sentence and his whole demeaner and body language even just sitting there was distinct.
Absolutely hope Deanna's going to do something at least!
