Star Trek Picard S2E6 (Spoilers)

lightofdayeTook a day off today with the folks being away so saw this a little earlier than usual.
I didn't like this one. I don't know if it's just because we're slap bang in the middle of the series/Story but it just didn't move like some others. It was short and padded with Anges' musical number(!) and the repeated flashforwards/back. That was annoying enough in episode 1 but here it was done repeatedly for no good reason.
Seven had nothing but a mandatory line. The show's also gone back to not acknowledging she met Q. Obviously she doesn't know him as well as Picard but they could at least use a few minutes, take an extra minute to acknowledge the continuity there.
Character work with Rios and Jurati and Jurati's plot line with the queen is good. Picard's interaction with Renee is fine. And at least with this mindmeld thing we can address the flashback to his mother we've been getting.
But yeah a very middle of the season episode. Hoping we'll big up speed for the finale in the next few episode.
