That Hope Is You, Part I which is not followed by Part 2 according to the episode list on Netflix.

This dude at the very start, I assumed he had historical records of Discovery’s fate and is waiting for them.

There’s kind of Farscape air of her getting ejecting out of a wormhole and an Andromeda edge to being stuck as the last Federation ship in the future.

Dilithium is not fuel that’s used up. Or at least it wasn’t. Dilithium limitations fits a TOS era show but far future? I’m not sure it would have that big an impact. The list of other methods of FTL was interesting though.

Sonequa Martin-Green must have had a blast playing high Michael though. As opposed to either stoic or distraught which seem to be the majority of screen time in season 2.

Michael disintegrated a lot of people with that future-phaser.

Oh, hey that’s Morn’s species! Andorians, Orions, Morns, I’m happy to see familiar faces in the future.

And the last scene is lovely and hopeful. Not bad at all Disco S3

You're right of course that dilithium was a renewable resource as early as TNG, since it could be recrystallized. (And didn't it turn out in Disco S2 that Po invented that process, or at least a precursor to it?) But I think what they're talking about here is an event that caused almost all existing dilithium to basically explode beyond the point of recovery, making it rare enough for people to fight over it.

This is all true (Po was established in Short Treks) but by 900 years later I wouldn't expect them to be dependent on Dilithium at all. The romulans had quantum singularity based warp cores rather than anti-matter ones that use dilithium for example and I always assumed, though I don't it was ever stated, advanced people like the borg didn't need it.

Plus it's basically a focusing element for the warp core. Not something you need to replace pebbles of every trip like Book seemed to.

I'm happy to see where they're going with it, it just doesn't quite gel with how it's been depicted before. Then again nothing new for Discovery, lol.

Haha, true enough! And really when you get down to it, 900 years is an awfully long time, so it's not just the tech but also the culture that should be unrecognizably different. If you think back 900 years in our history... What's going on in S3 is the equivalent of soldiers who served under William the Conqueror traveling forward to our own time period and thinking the solution to 2020's problems is for the Normans to conquer England again. So obviously there's some suspension of disbelief involved on multiple levels, lol.

I was wondering why they didn't dial them up to full vapourise for Leland but the future ones make up for that, lol.
