Did anyone catch this special? I think I've got a few fans on my F-list?
I felt very confused through out. From the start that felt it needed to recap modern Sherlock before doing an Victorian version. The reason for this did become apparent later but the advertising had given me the impression it was entirely unrelated to the main series. So I was as I said confused especially as I never saw the third series of Sherlock proper.
Still it moved along at decent clip and didn't seem to drag for a 95 minute episode, and the smugness of Sherlock (and moffat's writing) that dove me off in series 2 seems to have be diluted a bit by other characters. So it was watchable if nothing else.

Date: 2016-01-02 03:43 am (UTC)It had all the trademark Moffat stuff that irritate but as you said the support characters make up for it. I my favourite characters used to be Mrs. Hudson, and Molly and now I get to add Mary as well. In this special I loved Mary in both the Victorian and Present Day cuts. I loved the Victorian story that made up the plot. It intrigued me. I liked and loathed how that case got resolved. I loved that it was the women banding together to dole out some much deserved punishment but I hated how they just glossed over it as it came out...just brushed it aside.
That's my review. :D
