Smutty_claus posted it's third week recap. And I've just realised I've not read any of them. First couple of weeks I managed so well. but despite having so much more time in the holiday. Nada. No real desire to read them, even for duty's sake.

Blah. I suck at fandom.

Ignore the moping. Hope you having a good holiday season.

I hear you. Generally speaking from a mod perspective, people often say they like longer fests, an entry or two a day, but IMO the evidence is that after about two weeks, very few people are still with it. Even after week one most fests fall off but by week 3 or 4? Forget it. I don't think I'll ever plan for more than 3 weeks again, myself.

I feel you Daye! I've been way too busy... I've managed to read a bit here and there but not everything. And I'd like to keep up diligently with erised as well but some fics are super long and I don't have much time to myself these days and the little I do, I draw or rest. Hopefully I'll catch up when I get home.

I will say that as time gets short, my pickiness comes out. I loved my gift over there, and the Draco/Ginny and George/Pansy that recently posted are quite good.

I've tried some of the other stories, and some were lacking, some were okay.

I hate to admit that I'm far more likely to go back and read them after the master list posts and I see which of my friends wrote what.

I find that the hardest thing is to start. Once I start though, it's really easy and very very enjoyable to keep going. I don't force myself to read something that I don't want to, though, that just kills the mood and sends me back to square 1.

Start with the shortest fics? Always the ones that you enjoy naturally! :D xx

I feel the same way. I've only read the one written for me, the comments on the one I wrote and a few others. I'm on vacation this week so maybe I can get a couple others read.

It did and I really did!

Draco/Ginny is my OTP so it was sweet, beautiful and a little yummy. Is the gift for you posted yet? I can't remember. Has the gift you wrote been posted yet?

Oh yeah, I remember that, now that you mention it.

For me, it's just that December is a horrible month in general (fandom wise, I mean). Between my work conference, going to 20+ holiday parties (for work. Which is nowhere near as fun or glamorous as it sounds), and flying home for Christmas, my month is essentially shot. Adding in to that conundrum is the fact that I don't bring my laptop when I travel - just my iPad. It's great for reading, but not so great for commenting. And I'm the type who has to comment when I read, else I'll forget to go back and do it.

That being said, there are quite a few I'm looking forward to reading next week when I'm back in DC. I've got them bookmarked! And also as a mod, comments drop wayyyy off after the first 1 1/2 weeks. It's frustrating for those writers whose stories are posted later (or for those mods who hope their fests get lots of love), but fest fatigue is very real! And so is RL fatigue.
