Black Widow (spoilers)

I just got back from it. I don’t know if it’s just not seeing a film in cinema since the pandemic or what but it really blew me socks off.

Spoilers under the cut )

Anyway, super happy to have gone out and seen on the big screen!

I wrote a thing

Granted it's not what I was supposed to be writing and is entirely new franchise and genre to me. But it's still a thing!

It's about 600 words, a ficlet and it's a fix-fic for Avengers Endgame/WandaVision and assumes you are familiar with the MCU.

On the off chance that that appeals anyone here. (And I take no offense that it probably won't.) it's here: link

I'm happy to have written something though.

Still Alive

As ever I'm still here, just not managing to post much.

Saw Captain Marvel! It's not the best but it's still pretty entertaining. There's a lot of ugly feeling around about it though that's quite aggravating.

I'm supposed to be posting to [community profile] hp_getlucky this time next week. And posting starts tomorrow, so check that out. :)

Not feeling particularly great or like writing but I shall hopefully have something by the day.

Captain Marvel trailer

Marvel's first solo heroine movie:

It's a crying shame that they didn't get to it before DC stole a march on them with Wonder Woman. And I hope it does well. I can;t help but feel if it's only as good as Doctor Strange or Ant-Man or one of the more run on the mill origins story, it's going to be a failure thanks to sexism.

but to say that anywhere would get the sexists in uproar. "We just don't like it because it's not good" etc etc. And of course I'm a bit sexist as well because I would never think that about a male movie or maybe not sexist myself just cynical about everyone else's sexism.

Anyway. I'm looking forward to it.

SED 3: Agents Of SHIELD

So I was going to write this yesterday, since I last watched AoS on Friday. Then cooking disasters happened and I decided to write about that instead. Now I've forgotten most of what I was going to say.

IRON MAN 3

*cue the black sabbath* OH and spoilers. Really big spoilers. I mean it.

So I really don't know what to think about this movie. It really does things different from the previous Iron Man films and Avengers and it build itself up a sort of finale to Tony Stark's tale.

So basically the stress of the attack on New York and nearly dying in the Avengers, I guess is the straw that broke the camels back for Stark and his PTSD. The Iron Man suits are his crutch and he's got issues and everything and at the end he blows up all his suits, gets the reactor out of his chest (out of nowhere), and basically calls it quits.

Big problems here:
1) He calls it quits. Along with Dark Knight Rises last year this really bugs me. Since when do good superhero films have to end with the message that to be a superhero, you have to be psychologically scarred and you should give it up to be better. You should stop being heroic people. Urgh.
2) I don't think the PSTD arc really flows from how he was presented in Iron Man 2, or in the Avengers. It just doesn't scan for me.

So he spends a big part of the middle of the film not in a metal suit, not really superheroing it up but investigating the old fashioned way. While superpower bad guys are after him. It's not really bad persee, quite action packed and exciting in places and RDJ is charasmatic as ever.

But it all just feels off to me. Like I say big mixed feeling on this one.
