So the fourth of may. Or as you american would have it may the fourth... may the fourth be with... May the Force be with you. It's Star Wars Day!
Yeah, not feeling it. Or the new sequels coming soon. I've avoided the second trailer so I don't get hyped. Though considering what JJ Abrahams did the Star Trek... he should do well with Star Wars.
Still they did wipe out the existing book continuity for the new films. Books I spend an incredible amount of time reading during my youth. I mean yeah the books are still there and what not. But that, and the obvious money grubbing nature of the sequels does not endear them to me.

Don't forget there is a new Jurassic Park coming soon and a new Fantastic 4 plus every other superhero Marvel has in their catalogue.
I'm curious to see a brand new idea/concept. That would really stun me.

Date: 2015-05-04 08:06 pm (UTC)Depends what you mean by brand new. There are many films that come out that aren't based on any specific old franchise but they tend not to be blockbusters on the same scale as marvel films and so on. Unless you've got a big name attached like James Cameron or Christopher Nolan.

Date: 2015-05-04 08:24 pm (UTC)I feel like it's a Catch-22. The non-Marvel-type blockbusters take away revenue from the smaller budget original stories so they tend not to get made and supported, but the reason they tend not to get made and supported is because the studios assume that the audience will only be interested in the big budget blockbuster.
I don't know if I explained that right. :S

Date: 2015-05-04 08:26 pm (UTC)Oh, is there a new Star Wars movie out?
I can deal with the money-grubbing, but what I will never, ever forgive is the endless rambling snoozefest that was Attack of the Clones.
