Tech Argh

It has not been a good day for tech. I switched off my laptop about 2300 yesterday and it wanted to install 22 updates. By midnight it was still going at 8 of 22 so i moved it out my bedroom so the light wouldn't stop me sleeping.

at 14:10 today I get a worried email from my mum saying its still trying to install that one update. It was okay by the time I got hom but that still 14-15 hours at least microsoft. Then when i switched it back on it demanded to be restarted to finalised the bloody update.

can i tell a damned thing that's different about its performance now? I cannot.

Equally annoying: Yahoo mail has decide it doesn't want to show a conversation i was having with fest mods in my inbox at all, And remove it from outlook as well. I can still find the messages through search. But still, not on yahoo.

That update thing happened to me last night but thank God it didn't need 14+ hrs. I think everything installed within an hr. Granted, I did fall asleep and wake up so it might have been more than an hr. It never feels like improved performance to me either.

Yahoo never works for me when I try to use it and I have an address. I've just been sticking to Gmail because Yahoo is acting all crazy.

How's the job treating you?

Mine is getting buggy too. It's doing a weird rainbow-shut off-restart thing but it's been doing that from the very beginning. I just need some money to get a new one.

Gmail hasn't failed me, where others have, although tbf Hotmail didn't fail me so much as get weird with all the spam emails. I've almost completely switched to Gmail for all my email needs now. I still have the Yahoo and Hotmail accounts but for minimal use.

Maybe you could get 'Coding for Dummies' or something like that and just read up a bit. I wouldn't worry about making a good impression so much as not doing a bad job. Screwing up is what will get you fired, not floating under the radar. That's just my opinion though. Maybe you can ask a supervisor what they think of your performance so far, in an Off-the-record sort of way.

Good luck!

You don't have to worry about being rude. I'm trapped in a stasis state at the moment. I will be doing some more video production on the side but mostly it's the phone-ringing hell.

Ugh. I hate when technology misbehaves. :/ My son's laptop the hard drive just up and died after he'd had it for... wait for it... a year and two weeks. Like it had a timer set to detonate as soon as a reasonable time had passed. I hate Yahoo but it's the email address I've had longest and getting people to switch can be tricky.

Yup, updates started 5:30 AM (local) the day before yesterday and they still continued when I booted up 1 AM today.
