Happy Monday everybody! I thought I'd share something I find pretty funny. (I may have done before) This musical came out around the time of the first Hobbit film and with the third one coming up...

Seems to me the Hobbit sort of has the opposite problem to a lot of adaptation in that instead of having to cut a lot out of a long book to make a film, they've added a lot to a short book to make it three extremely long films.

Then again people do complain about the changes and cuts they made to include their new plot lines, so they've done it wrong coming and going. I notice there seems to be as much legolas in the third film's trail as Bilbo, which is amazing considering the latter is the titular hobbit and the former never appeared in the book at all.

Incidentally, LotR films as well as Master & Commander are films I saw before reading the source material they were adapted from. And in those cases I do prefer the films to the books usually its vice versa for me.

That is exactly what Hobbit's problem is - way too much movie for this book. I too saw LotR befor reading it and had no real problem with what they left out and what they kept. One of my favourite adaptations but I have to admit, I'm not liking The Hobbit the way I thought I would.

"There must be three..." LOL

Exactly! I did a quick reads of the book when the film was first announced and I found it to be mostly boring and tedious. Hearing it would be two films I thought, okay a stretch but maybe the CGI will improve the scenes and make it interesting. Then I heard three films... now they're just pushing it. Romances that never existed, characters who weren't even in it...too much.

I fully admit I watch The Hobbit movies for Aidan Turner alone. Sorry, I'm not sorry. :D

I also like Fili, but I definitely prefer Kili (though I could do without the dwarf/elf romance Jackson shoehorned in there).
