Windows Live Mail/Yahoo, What the hell?

lightofdayeThe e-mail I display in AFF and use for communicating for the fandom is a yahoo address but I've been viewing it with Windows Live Mail. (a sort of free limited version of outlook) Until today.
Today my internet connection was down/unusably slow for an hour or two. And when I got it back I checked my e-mail to find... 238 new e-mails. All of which were new unread duplicates of the existing contents. Weird. Now, I assumes it a problem with Live Mail so removed the account and re-add it something I've done before with no problem.
When it comes back. No e-mails at all. Check the yahoo account via the webpage. No e-mails at all in the box. Over a years worth of fandom communication. Gone.
So yeah, what the hell windows/yahoo? Rather confused and annoyed.
