It was raining that morning, so Harry Potter gave the delivery owl a treat or two along with payment for the rather damp morning newspaper. Harry settled down at the breakfast table to read.
“Look at this, dear,” Harry said to Ginny, pointing at what remained of the caption under the front page’s picture of the. “...Potter and Trophy… ...arity Gala.”
“Hmm,” Ginny said, pursing her lips and staring at the front page, which showed both of them in dress robes exiting a function the night before. “Trophy, huh? Which of us do you think they are calling the trophy?”
“It’s me isn’t it?” Ginny said hotly. “Married you for the fame and the money did I?”
“Oh, I always thought I was the trophy,” Harry joked. “You’re a brilliant sports player, league topping team, raking it in. I’m the pretty piece on your arm, lazing around doing nothing worthwhile since leaving school.”
“You know that’s not true Mr Auror-who-saved-the-world,” Ginny said.
“I’m a government quill-jockey married to a sports star,” Harry said, “clearly shooting above my grade but you can be the trophy if you want. Drop-dead gorgeous and making me the envy of everyone.”
At last Ginny laughed.
