post calamity cool down episodes
There was rather less ptsd and angst to this one that I was expecting.
Okay is it just me or having Jay-Den and kyle committed instantly shipping bed death? Because they certianly seems to be official and less cute given Jay-Den seems to be doing partly out of obligation to B'Avi's memory or anything.
I hope Genesis gets a full on focus episode because this wasn't it. Still, I liked her hanging out with Caleb and there scenes together. Was there a bit of UST at one point there or was it my imagination? And she gives him good advice about Tarima.
The ending of it though just made no sense to me. She took out stuff from the letters of recommendation? and it got through entrance checks but she doesn't think it'll repass them for command course? Maybe the same admirals that wrote them would review them? The episode doesn't explain.
I was expecting the big secret to be she wasn't really an Admiral's daughter at all and her dad was like Starfleet's Arnold Rimmer, though I don't know how they could justify that.
Darem's side of it... is okay, nice heartwarming stuff between him and Jay-den but it doesn't feel particularly earned.
I think it's part of the 10 episode run time. If this was the second half of a 20+ episode season, we'd have known Darem for long and his character development would seem less... theoretical?
Anyway it was fine, functional but not brilliant.
