neville100's Prompt #580: "Holidays"

Neville Longbottom was not a Christmas person. He even wondered if he should stay at Hogwarts during the Holidays during his Eighth year. His grandmother however would not have liked that.
So it was the usual affair, a christmas lunch with a decreasing number of people of his Grandmother's generation. Gifts of things that he, or his grandmother, had mentioned liking once a decade ago. Forcing out smiles and thanks and general good cheer.
And the visit to St Mungo's to his parents, Neville wouldn't miss it for the world but it wasn't what anyone could call a merry occasion.
By the end of Christmas day, Neville was feeling misunderstood, morose and alone.
He was pacing an upper story when the doorbell went, he didn't go down until he heard his Gran call.
Neville stomped down the stairs and then felt his jaw drop when he reached his porch.
Harry and Ginny, Ron and Hermione, and even Luna were crowded around his front door in hats and scarves, beaming at him.
"We thought you might want to come out for some good cheer," said Harry.
Stunning, Neville nodded and went out with his friends.
It was the best Christmas ever.
