harry100's Prompt #532: "Beard"
- - -
Lavender Brown and Parvati Patil lunched together in one of the Ministry cafeteria, it wasn't the one closest to their offices, but it was the one the more interesting departments used and as they wished they were in those more interesting departments, so did they.
It was the bright spot of their day: eating, chatting, certainly not gossiping and watching the passers-by.
There was one passer-by in particular Parvati looked out for.
"Oh that's new!" She said when she saw him.
Harry Potter walked across the room wearing a dapper closely-trimmed black beard.
"Hubba hubba," Lavender said, staring. "Momma like."
-
Harry stood in Hermione's office waiting for her to finish some work and for Ron. He turned in his head this way and that looking at his new beard from every angle in her mirror.
"I don't know about this," He said. "What do you think?"
Hermione barely looked up from her parchment, her face was exasperated. Maybe it was the work but possibly he'd said too much about the beard.
"If you want to fuck Lavender, keep it," She said. "If you want to date Parvati. Shave."
"Like either of those would…" Harry started and stopped at Hermione's look.
-
Another day, another lunch, this time Parvati and Lavender's meal was less harmonious.
"I can't believe it," Parvati grouched. "You can't start liking him, just because he's got a beard now. That's so shallow."
"I can't help it if he's hot now!" Lavender said airily.
"I've liked him for ages." Parvati sulked.
"Like you were going to do anything, girl!" Lavender laughed. "I, on the other hand…"
Parvati muttered sullenly. The words "Might have" and "not fair" were just audible above the refrain.
"Hey ladies, how are you doing?" came a voice.
Harry Potter, cleanly shaven, sat at their table.
