harry100's Prompt #507: "Joy"
- - -
Harry Potter paced up and down the hall in Grimmauld Place, feeling more anxious than he had done twenty six years ago in a similar situation in St Mungo's.
He wasn't sure James was ready but then he'd been sure he wasn't ready either and things seemed to have turned out okay.
"Mum? Dad? Dad!" came a voice and Harry bolted into the living room with Ginny on his heels.
"James!" Harry barked, "Is everything all right?"
James was grinning at them though there was stubble on his face and bags under his eyes.
"Everything's perfect," James said. "Come see!"
James' face disappeared from the green flame in the fireplace. Ginny touched his arm and Harry composed himself before they entered the fire.
They reappeared in a ward in St Mungo's and James beamed and waved at them from a door to a private room.
Harry and Ginny entered the room and found James hovering protectively over the bed in which sat an exhausted women with sandy hair.
Sophie Potter nee Finnigan had a tiny bundle in her arms. Inside a tiny face with big brown eyes looked out.
"We called her Joy, Mr Potter," Sophie said.
"Perfect," Harry said.
