Man, Raynor is really well versed in his DS 9, fitting since his species came from it. His plan is straight out of Kira's playbook in Emissary and the Romulan expression "Never turn your back on a breen" is from In Purgatory's Shadow/Inferno's Light as well.
I'm surprised they didn't need to switch up the clue teams, I felt like Book's courier experience would have come in handy for knowing the library. But another DS 9 reference with it being in the Badlands.
T'Rina as the prime mover and shaker here was very interesting and fitting they end up going with the more pragmatic decision to give Moll over than the more idealistic one which this show has often gone with.
Still kind of bummed that we didn't get more than one line about Saru and he was neither there nor Burnham and T'Rina didn't have time for a personal conversation about him. I really hope we see him again before the end. I guess it's cost saving measure, but hard look for Doug Jones, not that I suppose he's not in demand.
I liked this one at lot more than the previous week, the main plot is picking up speed again for the final few episodes.

Date: 2024-05-11 12:16 am (UTC)I appreciated Raynor getting a little angry, but I would have loved to let Michael really let him have it. I suppose she seems a lot more controlled because she's had so much character growth but I'd like to see her just lose her shit with him just once? Maybe that doesn't make sense. :P But oof, I do really wish we had more time to explore his arc and it sucks it's almost over. More room for fic, I guess.
I really loved what T'Rina got to do and honestly I feel like it was a better choice to not have Saru around for this one even though I love the character. That moment where she totally understands what the Breen are saying? Kinda hot. :D
Also here for more Jet Reno scenes. I was kind of feeling lukewarm about the whole overarching plot but space library is kind of cool. I really wish we had the Moll/La'k story in another season and I kind of felt like Michael totally realizing that he was the scion felt like she was reading the script. Other than that, I was feeling pretty meh about the last several episodes so this one actually had me looking forward to the next.

Date: 2024-05-14 07:50 pm (UTC)I liked Raynor this episode. There was more to to it than 'just learn to be fluffy like Michael' but more 'yeah you're feelings are valid here' and his knowledge was critical to saving the day which is good.
And yeah more time for the arcs would be getting, it sad everywhere seems to have standardised on 10 episode seasons (except Prodigy which I recommend if you have netflix).
