Going to prove you can have faux-amis even within the same language! In US English we do use "homey" to mean cozy like a home, though I'm afraid that doesn't sound right applied to a person, at least not to my ear.

Add that to the pile of words I had no idea weren't the same. I mean I doubt I've ever described a character as homely because they are all smokin' hot *g* but it's good to know it would confuse you! LOL
