Quick post for things on my mind:

  • Livejournal's new homepage: just how ugly is it? PRetty ugly imho but then I didn't use it for much than check if someone had posted on articles.
  • After missing a few I've been taking a look at round 21 of [livejournal.com profile] asoiafkinkmeme and boy to asoiaf prompts like their rare pairs and minor characters and very specific AUs and things.
  • I saw Man Of Steel, the new superman movie and I'm not sure what to thing about it. The first half of the movie is very confusing and the second half is mainly people being punched through buildings. I think it should be applauded for showing superman punching things and not using the old standbys of Lex Luthor and kryptonite but it wasn't quite satisfying for me. It was trying to do way too much.
  • On the HP front there's [livejournal.com profile] samhain_smut wondering whether run again, a fest I've not really read before and I'm hesitant to commit to anything. I'd quite like to prompt for it (if I can slot some of my pairings in to a halloween type prompt) but I'm really hesitant of definately saying I'll sign up for it. I've really got to stop signing up to things because I want to keep HP fandom going and then struggling with the prompt I pick. It's the same thing I did with [livejournal.com profile] fortheloveofhp, picked a prompt I thought I must be able to something for because i like the idea of the fest and now am failing to write for.

Yeah the new homepage is pretty ugly, but I don't ever use it. The feature that shows who has been looking at your journal is creepy.

Definitely agree with you about the meme. It's also weird that there are so many anonymous prompters. I guess I remember the first couple of rounds when the prompts were interesting and talented people filled them...

I liked the beginning of Man of Steel, I thought it was more interesting than the ending. Ben said that the visuals were really interesting but I expected a lot more from Christopher Nolan.

The feature that shows who has been looking at your journal is creepy. YES.

Other than that, just as ugly and useless as the old one.

Imagine if they had that feature on facebook O_O

Agreed. I guess I don't see why it's needed. It's not important for me to know who is looking at my LJ. If I only want a specific person or specific groups of people to see my content then there are privacy features to each entry, you know?

Yes the number of fills has definitely declined over time, but technically the fic I'm working on is a fill, it's just turned into a chapter story. Plus the fic-writing for this fandom tends to slow down once the season is over.

I know what you mean about the information overload. I didn't know as much about Superman's history as Ben did, so I found myself having a hard time remembering what people's names were/etc. I did like seeing Clark on Earth trying to live among people and dealing with his uniqueness/his bond with his parents.

It is! Of course, now that I think about it, I think you could always check and see who was visiting your journal. But you had to pull it up. Now it's just right there.

I'm not quite sure why LJ keeps changing things. I still hate the new friends page layout.

Hm I never knew that. Guess I'll just reframe from using it.

I never switched over to the new friends page, so I still have the old one hehe. Maybe one day I'll go online and find that they've forced me to change.

I think LJ is trying to stay current and compete with websites like tumblr and facebook when they should just realize that they have a different niche ability that people want.

Yes, Kelly showed me that. We were in a fanfic exchange and she told me afterward she knew exactly who was writing her story, because I visited her LJ. I didn't know her before than, so I was trying to see what kind of stories she liked.

Well when it first came out, I thought it had a continuous feed which drove me batty. I like having pages so I can find things. Just looking at it now though, it doesn't look like it has that anymore.

Ah, but I always enjoy the witty banter incited by these changes over on [livejournal.com profile] lj_releases. I've just scrolled briefly and already seen the words "horseshit" and "donkey balls". Plus this comment, which made me LOL.

Depending on the prompts, I think I'll try my hand at [livejournal.com profile] samhain_smut. I haven't had a good mental breakdown lately, so maybe a fest is exactly what I need. :D

I've written for Samhain before but I understand about not wanting to commit to anything. I'm having trouble writing for a Blaise Fest right now and the story is due in mid-July.
