A/n: Un'beta'd. Written for Day 11 of "31 Days Of Weasleys" at
weasleyjumpers for the prompts: "Albus/Draco" and "The Monster Book Of Monsters", I was going to put in a joke about the third prompt "Creature Induced Injuries Ward" but reached a natural endpoint before I could.
---
Draco Malfoy looked up from the Evening Prophet when he heard a sudden spate of swearing from his drawing room. After a moment, he got up and stuck his head around the door.
Albus Severus Potter was standing on one of his chairs and clutching his hand, using language that Draco doubted he'd dare use in front on his parents, newly minted teenager or not.
"Problem?" Draco said mildly. He rather liked Albus, at least he'd got a sensible name unlike the other Potter children.
"It bit me!" Albus said indignantly and gestured, under the table where what turned out to be a book, was shuffling about on it's covers, making growling noises.
Draco recognised the book.
"Scorpius?" He said.
His son shrugged and seemed to be supressing a smile.
"Al's taking Care of Magical Creatures as well." He said.
And you didn't warn him about the book? Draco thought, he didn't do more than frown at his son because it was hard to bring himself to be stern with him at the moment perhaps he really should say something.
Draco took out his wand and pointed it under the table.
"Accio." He said and then continued to all. "The Monster Book Of Monsters? We had that in my day. Now the trick is you see⦠you stroke them like this."
He ran his finger down the spine of the book and it quieted down. He locked his eyes on Albus' striking emerald gaze and handed him the book.
"As with everything Albus, a gentle touch is all that's needed."
