So along with my usual complaints of complete lack of inspiration on the writing front, and that I want to write 2 fics a month and have written nothing (except FWF which I didn't want to count) I also want to have a good moan about British politics.

It's laugh or cry time folks. In case you weren't away, we finally got rid of Boris Johnson as our head of government this year, because the scandals and corruptions and incompetence which were excusable enough on their own to our government started catching up to them in the polls and their popularity was at risk and that got him chucked out after mass resignations from his government.

Because we have parliamentary system, and a monarchy as figurehead head of state, the leader of our country is elected by the rest of their political party. Under the Tory's current rules, they have a run off of all the candidates in votes by the elected member of parliament until they had two options that all the party members in the country vote on.

So after Boris, we got Liz Truss, who at the last second became the second most popular candidates among the MP but won with the part members across the country for being very right wing, lower taxes for the riches, cut services for the poor etc etc.

While this was going on the energy crisis hit. Then the first thing that happened when Liz truss became Pm was she met the queen. Who promptly died.

Once the official mourning was over, Liz Truss announced her economic policies, the ones she campaigned on and then the value of the pound crashes, interest rates went way up and people worried about their pensions and mortgages on top of the energy crisis.

so she fired her chancellor, a close ally who was just enacted her policies. The next chancellor was from the opposing wing of her party and undid all those cuts but her authority was entirely undercut especially following reports of bullying and manhandling in the houses of parliament during a vote on Frakking.

So she resigned today.

Now we have a quickie version of the process I mentioned above, where candidates for being PM must get the support of 100 of their fellow MPs who will then vote them down to 2. (there are 300+ tory MPs at the moment so they can have a most 3 cadidates) and then the party can vote on them online for the rest of the week so we get another PM by the 28th.

And the real kicker. There's a chance we may get Boris Johnson right back again after a nice six week holiday.

And even if we don't, it's still tories in power. Unless the government entirely collapses they don't have to call an election until Jan 2025 I believe it is.

Fuck.

No real point to this beyond just despairing of the whole situation.

What a clown show. Not that we can talk over here but the idea of Boris coming back... SMH I feel your pain, I really do.

I absolutely snorted at this bit though: Then the first thing that happened when Liz truss became Pm was she met the queen. Who promptly died. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL So terrible.
