Star Trek Picard S2E7 (Spoilers)
Apr. 16th, 2022 01:48 pmStill middle of the story stuff but we do get some answers and development
So yes, Picard has a Head Baltar. (or rather James Callis' plays a role in this episode.) It's silly but it annoyed me he was wearing something that looked similar to but wasn't quite a TNG Movie/Late DS9 era uniform. The chief differences being the grey section wasn't ribbed and there was some addition colour on the border of the coloured undershirt. I don't know if was an intentional variation or they'd just failed to recreate the old uniform accurate, it looked like cosplay.
Anyway the meat of the episode is Picard's mind and finding out that in a slight twist, his father was not as abusive as has been hinted and his Mother was some kind of bipolar/maniac depressive that wouldn't get help causing the friction in the marriage, at least that's what's been revealed so far. The episode pretty much states there's another shoe to drop there. Still the experience actually sets Tallinn and Picard thinking about what Q's motivations and end goals are here which is the real progress I think.
Meaning while Rios still has the hots for the Doctor, actually revealing to her the truth about him being from the future. (more TVH references abound) even taking her and her son to his ship. As aside the Doctor being able to use a medical device from the future just because is pretty silly. Still I find them both charming so cool.
The other big thing is Seven and Raffi figuring out what Jurati/The Queen's deal with. Which is also pretty good progress. There's also fun but a bit obviously meta moment where they talk about their relationship and Jurati/Rios' (Which was so forgettable for me I'd literally forgotten it had happened last season)
So yeah it was entertaining and moved things forward, so solid episode for me.
