There were many wonderful things in the Wizarding world but there weren’t any Gay Bars, which made what James wanted to say rather awkward.
“Hi, can I buy you a drink?” he said.
“Why? Is it your round?” Scorpius Malfoy asked with a smile.
“No, I mean can I buy you a drink?” James said, hoping he was less red than his hair. “I heard you were… Well not that’d you have to even if you were...“
“I heard you liked girls.”
“No, I like beautiful blondes,” James said. “Handsome blonds, in your case.”
Scorpius went a pleasant pink colour.
James bought two butterbeers. Scorpius had found a table for two in the corner of the pub. James noted that it was quite cosy as he slid into the chair opposite him; his heart raced at that and at the striking gaze of Scorpius’ blue-grey eyes.
“Your dad’s an Auror right?”
James nodded.
“You’re not?”
“Not quite the right mindset, I’m afraid”
“Well, you were wondering what I like.” Scorpius said conspiratorially. “Here’s a clue.”
He jerked his head downwards, James looked and saw what was on Scorpius’ jacket.
James grinned. Scorpius grinned back.
He was wearing a rainbow badge.
