Picard Episode 6

Just watched it. Some thoughts in retrospect:

• The final image of the teaser with Picard's face overlaid with Locutus' was an amazing poignant shot.
• Hugh and Picard meet! "I'll take a friendly face" so will I, JL, so will I. There's been a shortage of them this series.
• Soji figures out what's wrong with a lot of prodding and then Narek betrays her.
• Shades of nemesis there. "Radiation" represented by... red poison gas?
• Hugh says the gate was after Loctus' time but would explain who the queen could be on the Wolf 395 cube and the First Contact one so...
• If they kill off Hugh, I'm rioting
• Out-of-universe, I'm not buying that everyone's just accepting Jurati's Maddox just died of his injuries line. I'm shocked no-one's digging through the medical logs, asking the EMH what happened.
• It's on an on-going thing but given VGR's EMH and the series who theme of synthetic rights the treatment of all the Rios' holos is... odd.
• I wonder if that one guy calling out 'Locutus' near the end is significant? Like the whole cube is going to wake up and go assimilation crazy.

All in all it was a much less, emotional wrought episode but advanced the plot strongly and had some good Hugh/Borg/Picard scenes.

I also thought the overlay of Picard's face with Locutus' was terrific. It seems like they are seamlessly trying to make this show for people who don't know all the old backstory, which is cool.

I'm feeling like no one really has *time* to question Jurati further and kind of hope that the EMH tattles to Chris. Or something.

I thought it was great that they had someone call out to Picard, but I wonder if it was just a nod to the fact that they all still know each other? But you also raise a good point!

They are striking a good balance between continuity and explanations for the new coming. explaining to people like Jurati and Elnor for the audiences sake.

She's going to get found out eventually one assumes, just at a more dramatic moment, lol.
