lightofdayeI was thinking about this on my walk today, as you do and it occurred to me Dragons gets one hell of a rough deal in the wand making business.
I mean trees just get a branch or two cut off. Unicorns? Tail hair grows back I bet. Phoenix feathers? If nothing else it’ll come back on burning day.
But dragons? Heartstring! Literally a bit of it’s heart.
Do wand makers have to get their materials themselves? Ollivander referenced personally plucking a unicorn’s tail so... maybe? Are all wand makers also professional Dragonslayers?
That would explain why it seems to be the least popular core. I can’t think who had a dragon wand in the books, maybe Krum in combination with something else? It always seems to be unicorn hair or something more exotic.
