We do this thing called word war, where a bunch of us will 'meet' virtually on IM and 'compete' to see how many words we can write in a 20 minute block of time. Since I'm competitive, I find it works. If you'd like to try it let me know. Torino and I do it sometimes. :)
Also, a lot of the time if I just sit down and write anything, even if it's nonsense or the first thing that comes to me without filtering I can push through a block and end up with usable stuff.
Powering through works but only if say something like 'no sleep until this scene is done' my SC was just written mostly over three late night/early morning writing sessions.
