According to JK, it could stretch to five films. I'd heard a trilogy before and apparently the sequels already been approved.

They better hope it does well. I mean it's banking on the brand I guess. It's going to be sad if they make like 3 out of 5 films of a story before it peters out.

I saw this yesterday. I mean she must have ideas how it's going to go to say that but five does seem risky to me as well as money-grubbing but don't get me started on that. Not everything should even be a trilogy let alone more.

That may be true. I'd like to think that if she didn't think it was a good idea, she wouldn't agree to it. Still, five is an odd number. *shrugs*

I thought one film would be a stretch since this isn't even a book with storyline, it's literally a text book. They managed to find one film but five?!?! I remember when the were adapting The Hobbit and I heard one film and I thought, "cool", then they said two films and I thought, "bit of a stretch but okay" then they said three and I thought, "how?!? There isn't enough book for that". The third film in hat trilogy was difficult to watch.

If his works, I expect to see Quidditch through the ages and Beedle next...

I'm curious about this because I love the cast but I'm sceptical.

I'm trying to get excited but it's very muted simple because the source material isn't really anything to get excited about.

Re Hobbit trilogy: I enjoyed the first movie, tolerated the second and still haven't watched the third. I started it but just could not finish it.

Five films sounds good to me!! Especially if they all have Colin Farrell. :DD Although I suspect Newt will be moving around a bit, so some of these initial characters might be one-offs. They haven't started filming the second one yet AFAIK, so I'm sure David Heyman is being cautiously optimistic, as am I. Anyway, JKR can grub all the money she likes from me. I love her world. :)

Yes! IIRC, New York was meant to be the first of several locations.

I did some googling for the latest news, and apparently they released the first 10 minutes last night at that special event, and the film opens with a Grindelwald attack. Combined with other tidbits (e.g. the Deathly Hallows in Graves' character poster), it's looking like this might be the story of Grindelwald as much as Newt... so yeah, I could see several films exploring that. And I say bring it!

I'm withholding judgement until I've seen the first movie. It could work out nicely. Just as long as they don't start messing around with Harry, I'll probably be happy.
