Do you ever get that feeling where a plot that seemed so clear late at night or in the early morning just complete vanishes when you get in front of a keyboard?

The whole middle part of a fic just vanished into the ether for me. The things is I don't even want to write that fic anymore but I can't think of anything to replace it. What I can think of is a potential BJF fic but the pairing's incompatible with what i need to write for the fest.

And when BJF rolls around it will have gone clear out of my head.

I'm posting this but I've said it all before.

My problem tends to be that when I sit down to write, I need to get from point A to point B and in the nebulous brainstorming, I hadn't really pinned that part down.

I really have to get my shit together this week or I am going to have a problem. :/

OMG, me too. I have my Smutty Claus fic to write. I have a fair idea what I want to and plan to write, I just have none of the details that make a story.

So frustrating. My main feeling is, if you have something that's clamouring to be written, don't ignore it, even if it's not what you're "meant" to be working on right now.

I have to agree. I often get more done in that 2-3 hours of working on the "wrong" project than I would have done on the "right" one because it wants to be written. And because so many of my fics are short, a few hours can make all the difference in the world.

God yes, that happens to me all the time. Or rather, I have what I think are the most brilliant ideas ever. And then I sit down to write them out, and I realize they weren't so brilliant after all. I think I like ideas more than actual stories. ;P
