I would definitely want to leave myself more than three weeks to focus on it, especially as it's a story I would be writing as a gift for someone else.
I think for me to be comfortable about not being pressed for time, I need to have my Interhouse fic written and ready for revision by the end of this month, or within the first couple of days in October. I'm cautiously optimistic that I'll be able to meet this self-imposed deadline, but I think I'll wait for a few days and see if I'm still feeling that way. If I am, I'll likely go ahead and sign up as long they haven't already hit their max (which I'm assuming isn't likely, based on your comment.)
