James Sirius Potter was sure his brother had a secret. He first noticed when Al arrived at a party in the finest robes money could buy but in an old-fashioned style.
He flew a new Firebolt One broomstick when they played Quidditch. It was a warm day but Al wore a turtle-neck.
He sat gingerly at the family dinner.
"So I guess there's a lot of perks in dating Scorpius Malfoy?" James said when they were alone.
Al rocked back and forth on the balls of his feet but eventually replied.
"Not dating really, and not Scorpius," he whispered. "Draco."
